Singer/songwriter, Lisa Briones, brings her warm, and according to Matty Schindler of Faux Jean, 'savant garde' sound to audiences willing to hear fresh, original music. She's like a great cup of coffee in a foreign place, so familiar and comfortable, yet tastes even better in a new and exotic setting. Lisa's ability to write melodies intuitively, often with hard-to-replicate chords, puts her music in its own genre, with influences from Funk, Americana and Jazz. Her innate gift of a melodic ear is then accompanied by an angelic voice that sets a heartfelt, emotional tone for each song.
Lisa's most recent efforts include: 2nd Place at the Women in Music
Annual Song Writing Contest, Smith College of Music, for "You Don't See Me," off her "The You" CD; her songs playing on KFAI Radio's Women Folk hosted by Ellen Stanley and "The Wave Project," MJ Kroll and Women in Music Minnesota (wimmn.com); her performing on KFAI's show, Fresh Fruit, with Rebekka Fischer and MJ Kroll, representing Women in Music Minnesota; her attending songwriting workshops with Pat Pattison and Andrea Stolpe, Berkely School of Music, Boston, MA, with Steve Seskin, Nashville, TN at the L.A. Taxi Convention, Los Angeles, CA and with Jason Blune in Nashville, TN and Los Angeles, CA; her performing locally at the MN Fringe Festival, Rossi's Jazz Night Club, Montana Coffeehouse and the Women's Jam at the Blue Fox Bar and Grill.
Lisa is also currently pitching songs in Los Angeles, writing/producing songs for her 3rd CD and writing/performing for The Sireens' first CD.
Please come and experience Lisa, solo and unplugged, at her live shows.
For the pleasure of her music with live musicians and a produced band sound, her CDs are available for purchase at her shows, cdbaby.com, Cheapo Records, iTunes and greatindie.com. |
